Alternative medicine

Alternative medicines mean any form of the medicine which is outside the activity of conventional medicine as practiced by a majority of doctors today. It exists in all cultures to some degree and terms like traditional medicine, environment medicine or folk medicine etc. are used for describing such practices. These medicines don’t have any date back for hundreds or thousands of years depending on the country and culture.

There are more than 100 systems of alternatives medicines which are still in practice in all over the world. Every country or region or area will have its own traditional system for health and medical care’s like Chinese as acupuncture, French as magnetic healing, Germans as Heilpraxis, English as Herbalism, and India as Ayurveda with siddha being widely used in the southern part of the country for Japan and shiatsu etc.

The most popular alternative medicines are Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Naturopathy, Yoga, Acupuncture, magneto therapy, Shiatsu, Meditation, Aromatherapy, Bach Flower Remedies, Chromo therapy, Diet Therapy, Reiki etc.

Some of the alternative medicines are:-
1. Ear Candling – used for wax build up and hearing problems, ear and sinus infections.
2. Fever – use peppermint tea
3. Cumin and Ginger Tea – for immune system
4. Chamomile tea- used for stomach ache
5. Ginger – it is also used for stomach ache. Add ginger in to hot water and make tea or drink ginger ale.
6. It also helps in killing viruses and it will recover you from viral infections.
7. Dill seed – used for gas, mainly for colic in children and also helps you if you have fever.
8. Cloves and clove oil – used for toothache
9. Turmeric – it is natural anti-inflammatory. Add gargle with turmeric in warm water then you can get rid of sore throat or other types of inflammation.
10. Aloe Vera- used for household burns, sunburns and small cuts
11. Elderberries – fever
12. Honey – it has tremendous healing properties. It is used on burns to speed healing and dulls the pain
13. Licorice – reduce stress
14. Lemonade – used for cold or flu to soothe sore throats, cleanses the blood and loosen mucous.
Make the juice by adding half lemon juice and one teaspoon of maple syrup or honey to a cup of warm water.
15. Acidophilus - in yogurt is known to restore the intestinal flora.
16. Research in England has found that Garlic can speed up recovery from the flu disease and will increase the resistance. Raw Garlic has anti-fungal, antibacterial and antiviral properties. Use garlic as a tea or you can use it as the liquid from garlic on a cotton ball to relieve from an ear ache.
17. Research has shown that Vitamin C is found in orange juice which is taken daily, can overcome the flu. The recent research has shown that 1,000 mg of vitamin C for every 6hours can effectively cure or even prevent flu symptoms.
