Gynacologist

The branch of medicine which deals with health care of women, mainly the diagnosis and treatment of disorders which affects the female reproductive organs. Gynecologist is a physician who will successfully complete specialized education and training in the health of female reproductive system, which includes the diagnosis and treatment of disorders and diseases.

Basically, education and training will occur concurrently. Gynecologist is a physician who will provide medical and surgical care for women and they are experts in pregnancy, childbirth and disorders of reproductive system. It includes preventative care, parental care, detection, pap test screening and family planning. The gynecologist or obstetrician is abbreviated ad GYN/OB, which can serve a primary physician and serves as consultants to other physicians. They will have private practices like work in hospital or clinic; maintain teaching positions at university hospitals. OB/GYNs may work as a public health and preventive medicine administrations. They are having base of knowledge and they can see their professional focus. So many developing practices are providing health care for women.

6. Maintenance of health during the pregnancy

Common operations that gynecologists do are:-
1. Dilation and curettage- removes the uterine contents
2. Hysterectomy - removal of uterus
3. Oophorectomy - removal of ovaries
4. Tubal ligation
5. Hysteroscopy
6. Laparoscopy - used to diagnose and gives treatment of pelvic and abdominal pain
7. Laparatomy - used to investigate the level of progression of malignant diseases.
8. Treatments for urinary incontinence, which includes cystoscopy and sub urethral slings.
9. Treatments for pelvic organ prolapsed which includes correction of cystocele and rectocele.
